A Perfect Saturday

For those of you in San Diego, you are well aware of the gnarly heat wave we have been experiencing. Not only has it been too hot to do anything, I'm broke. But that doesn't effect my mood, because if there is one thing that makes me happier than anything, it's sunshine!

On Saturday my friend Kelly came over and we layed out on beach chairs on my front patio. ALL DAY. By Saturday night, we were the perfect shade of golden brown and felt like pampered princesses.

Before Kelly came over, with a 6 pack of beer in one hand and a box of popcicles in the other (that's my girl!) I did a little bit of preparation.

One indulgence that I love that literally costs less than a $1 is Cucumber Water. I prepared this delightfully refreshing beverage first thing in the morning, and when Kelly got there, I poured us each a glass with lots of ice, straws and a lemon slice. You can't drink this delicious luxury - like refreshment in any old plastic cup. That's why I used jumbo plastic wine glasses complete with our own little charms.

Greetings Friends!

My life basically rocks. I'm pursuing my professional dreams, I have an amazing network of friends and family, and I live in the best city in the country (in my humble opinion).

I am an only child so I have always been my mom and dad's princess. Not that I was spoiled - at all. I have worked since I was 15, even younger if you count my preadolescent business ventures - Babysitter, Dog Walker, Cat Feeder, Lemonade Stand Manager - all very shortlived, but profitable all the same. I have always had my own money and I have been good at managing what I spend, while still treating myself.

I learned from my mother at a very early age that a trip to Target feels much more chic when pronounced "Tar-jayyyy" and honestly, how you feel is all that really matters, not how much you spend. So here I am, in my late 20's, working my ass off and never forgetting that I deserve to indulge.

Some may think that living a mile from the beach is an indulgence in itself, and I tend to agree. But living like a princess doesn't mean having designer everything, eating at the hippest restaurants, and partying at the trendiest clubs - although wouldn't that be nice!

I treat myself like a princess daily, and on a VERY tight budget. Luckily, there are a variety of resources out there that can help you find great deals, so even if you do have to live prudently, you can still be a princess.
